Glasgow based charity MENSELF + have secured an unrestricted grant totalling £20,000 from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s funding programme, Energise.

Founded in 2015, MENSELF + supports men and women who are affected by a plethora of societal and health and wealth being issues from across the Glasgow area. They currently provide opportunities and support for around 100 people per week to access social, community, leisure, and recreational activities of their choosing.

With the cost-of-living crisis impacting mental health, as well as income, the funding will mean that the charity can continue to deliver a range of programmes, overseen by their Coordinator, so that people can experience a better quality of life through increased and continued access to support and activities.

Jim Malcolmson, founder, at MENSELF + said, “We are delighted to receive this grant from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s Energise Programme, as knowing we will be able to maintain our services is a huge relief. The work they do is vital in ensuring men and women, and adults with disabilities and additional support, remain involved in the community and get a chance to enjoy themselves.”

Donald MacKechnie, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees said, “We are delighted to award MENSELF + with £20,000 of funding. The cost-of-living crisis means many charities are struggling with increasing expenditure, at a time when the demand for their services is as great as ever. Our grant awards will help charities through the challenging months ahead.”
